Signal started beta testing of payments in the app, the messenger uses cryptocurrency in payments. Currently, it is only for those in the United kingdom. But, it surely will be available for other parts of the globe soon. This was quite expected from the firm, and cryptocurrency makes it even more “private”. At present, it uses the MobileCoin protocol for payments.

Jun Harada, head of growth and communication stated via a blog post that new beta brings the ability to make secure mobile payments between users. But, Signal will use cryptocurrency instead of traditional bank account payments. Signal’s partnership with MobileCoin allows its own protocol, along with MOB protocol.
Both MobileCoin and Signal are best known for privacy and security. All together you are getting a highly secure and private platform, along with secure payments that don’t require your bank details. If this upgrade receives positive feedback, your country could be the next one to get the feature.
