OnePlus Nord 2 5G: Everything you Need to Know

OnePlus has finally introduced the successor for the OnePlus Nord, which is the first-ever mid-range 5G phone from OnePlus. The new device is named Nord 2 5G, just as you’d expect. The new device also packs a triple-camera setup at the rear, and a Mediatek Dimensity processor. And we aren’t surprised, as most of the device manufacturers have decided to go with MediaTek chips for 5G connectivity. MediaTek chips are the cheaper options when compared to Qualcomm chips, at least in the budget category!

Prime specifications

The device comes with a 6.43 inches Fluid AMOLED 90Hz HDR10+ Display, with the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 5. Under the hood, there is a MediaTek Dimensity 1200 5G chip, that’s paired with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 Storage. The SOC has a Mali-G77 MC9 GPU for gaming and its graphical requirements. The device supports dual Nano-SIM with Dual Standby. There’s no dedicated SD card slot which is quite reasonable as the device only comes in two variants, one with 8GB RAM/128GB storage and another one with 12GB RAM/256GB of storage.

Camera & Entertainment

On the back, the device has a triple-camera setup with Dual-LED flash. The triple camera setup consists of a 50MP main camera, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP Macro sensor. While on the front, it has a 32MP selfie camera. You may/may not be satisfied with the device as there’s no 3.5mm audio jack, which could be an unavoidable con for many unless you decide to compromise on this. This beauty is powered by a Li-Po 4500 mAh non-removable battery, which supports 65W fast charging.

Other features

The device is also said to charge itself from 0-100% in just 30mins with the 65W fast charger, not to forget this could degrade the battery capacity faster than usual when compared to other charging speeds. The device is also equipped with the latest WiFi-6 hardware for faster wireless connection speed. Another feature is the USB Type C 2.0 port, out of the box, the device will run on Android 11, OxygenOS 11.3. The 8GB RAM 128GB Storage variant will be available for Rs 27,999 ($376.07).
