There is a set of 7 categories that you’ll be able to utilize in order to catalogue evidence and identify the ghost: Spirit Box Response, Fingerprints, Ectoplasm Stains, EMF, ESG, Easel Canvas Drawings, and Freezing Temperatures (thermometer). The ghost type will depend entirely on which of these categories the evidence fits into.
Demonologist All Ghost Types and Characteristics

At the current build of Demonologist, here are all the types of Ghosts and their Characteristics:
- Abaddon: Are very aggressive against players who are low on Sanity but will ignore you if you’re holding a Crucifix. (Freezing Temperature, Spirit Box & EMF)
- Agash: Are very fast in cold temperatures but slow down when it’s hot. (Freezing Temperature, Ectoplasm Stains & Fingerprints)
- Boogey: Ghost personality is still under investigation. (EMF, ESG & Spirit Box)
- Demon: A difficult ghost to identify due to lack of reaction from players but is very aggressive when hunting. (Easel Canvas Drawing, Freezing Temperatures & Ectoplasm Stains)
- Deogen: Are aggressive when their targeted players are near but become less so when their target is far away. ( ESG, EctoplasmStains & Fingerprints)
- Goryo: Will only interact with the ESG if no players are nearby. ( EMF, ESG & Fingerprints)
- Guipo: Ghost personality is still under investigation. ( ESG, EctoplasmStains & Spirit Box Response)
- Gul: Gets hostile if you talk or swear near it. ( Fingerprints, Spirit Box Response & Freezing Temperatures)
- Hantu: Can curse players who speak to them and the curse can only be lifted with Sanity Pills. ( Easel Canvas Drawings, Spirit Box Response & Freezing Temperatures)
- Iblis: Has unique dialogue that other ghosts don’t possess and always knows where you are but becomes slower when they’re near their prey. ( ESG, Easel Canvas Drawings & Spirit Box Response)
- Jinn: A ghost with high activities and is prone to hunting players. ( EMF, ESG & Freezing Temperatures)
- Mare: Loves to talk but doesn’t usually start hunts and won’t begin a ghost hunt if a player is nearby. ( EMF, Easel Canvas Drawing & Freezing Temperatures)
- Myling: A ghost that is calmed by fire and attracted to it but it will put out the flames before starting a ghost hunt. ( Freezing Temperatures, EctoplasmStains & Spirit Box Response)
- Naamah: Ghost personality is still under investigation. ( EctoplasmStains, ESG & Easel Canvas Drawings)
- Oni: Will quickly damage your sanity if you’re nearby and is very fast when hunting. ( EMF, Freezing Temperatures & Fingerprints)
- Onryo: A ghost that will fall in love with a player which they will never attack but they’ll attack everyone else close to them. ( EMF, Fingerprints & Easel Canvas Drawing)
- Poltergeist: A ghost that will frequently throw objects which lowers your sanity and they can only calm down when they have nothing left to throw. ( ESG, Spirit Box Response & Fingerprints)
- Raiju: Will hunt down players who stray from the group and is less likely to hunt around larger groups. ( ESG, EctoplasmStains & Freezing Temperatures)
- Revenant: Will hunt you regardless of your sanity. ( Easel Canvas Drawing, Fingerprints & Freezing Temperatures)
- Thaye: Are very aggressive early but will slow down as the game continues. ( Easel Canvas Drawing, Spirit Box Response & Fingerprints)
- Wraith: Ghost personality is still under investigation. ( EMF, Ectoplasm Stains & Fingerprints)
- Yokai: Will start a ghost hunt once everyone’s average sanity is below 50%. ( EMF, Easel Canvas Drawing & Spirit Box Response)
- Yurei: A ghost that likes to hunt when groups of players are together but is less aggressive when you’re alone. ( EMF, ESG & Ectoplasm Stains)
