Battlegrounds Mobile India Introduces Strict rules for Under 18 Players

Battlegrounds Mobile India or the Indian version of PUBG Mobile brings disappointing news for its Indian Fans, especially for those who are under 18 years of age. The policies are completely different from the previous version of the battle royale game. The new policies are far more strict for gamers that are under 18 years of age. The game was initially banned by the Indian government because of the Tension between India and China, and also for some security and privacy concerns.

Changes in Game

So in order to return to the Indian Gaming market, the policy had to be changed. According to the new update, underage players won’t be able to spend more than Rs 7000 for in-game purchases. Underage players will only be allowed to play 3 hours at a go. According to Krafton, underage players will even need their parent’s permission to play the game.

Under 18 players will also be asked to provide their parent’s phone numbers. Krafton has also mentioned that this time the player data will be stored in India and Singapore only, and it won’t be sent to any other countries. Earlier the data was sent to its country of origin, that’s China of course. Due to recent policy changes, the game has lost its grip over underage players, but some of the changes such as the 3-hour play limit were actually necessary.

Conclusion

Seeking parent’s permission before playing wasn’t necessary, as teenagers are anyway allowed to play 3 hours at a go, furthermore, it creates a negative image in minds of many casual gamers, as well as non-gamers. Being an old-school gamer, I personally feel that the actual joy of the game has almost faded since the policy update. As it is just a game, it should be treated as one. The restrictions and set of rules have made it just grab more attention, more unnecessary hype. This was just a personal remark, however, we are yet to see how the Fans react to it.
